It's one thing I suppose if you're on property and it's a working dog but never understand people who live in neighborhoods but don't let their dogs inside. Makes no sense to me, why have it?

I had family members with a poodle that lived inside back in the 80s. It was one of the best trained dogs I have ever seen.

I’m 43, so I grew up in the 80’s and I don’t remember dogs in the house. Lots of people had yard dogs, hunting dogs in pens or on chain, that sort of thing.

My parents, grandparents and would’ve never allowed dogs in a house. I remember my grandma’s cat got in the house one time, I thought she was going to beat that damn thing to death with the broom trying to get it out.

Yep. But they didn't go to the restaurants or grocery stores in baby strollers like today.

Dogs belong outside. Build them a house in the shade and have a fenced enclosed yard.

The people that consider dogs a family member need their heads checked.

It isnt some grand conspiracy that cities are warmer in the summer now due to the urban heat island effect

I thought maybe you’d grown up in Alaska or something. I can’t remember a summer in my life where I thought it was pleasant outside.

They were at our house by the late 1980's, but only because my hobby breeder parents were part of the effort to resurrect the Chinese Shar Pei breed from near-extinction (thanks, Mao, you commie fat arse scum) and the dogs were incredibly expensive at the time. Prior to that, we had all outside farm dogs of various breeds.

i was born in the early 80s so only remember some of it, but yes, we had inside dogs. They spent probably more time outside than your average dog does today though.

Mom told me I could go outside with the dog before the dog would come in her house. So unless it was freezing they stayed outside. Just like the cows, horses, hogs and chickens.
