Yep, "disown" usually means they dont approve of it.
Democrats love hyperbole.

Why?
Define support and what makes me an a-hole in your mind if mine and your definition is different?

I have a tendency to agree with this as well.

You can't put this childish nonsense aside and support the kid?
How does one support a kid with his sexual preferences? How would you support your daughter if she came out to you and said she loved sucking 4 dicks at a time and having trains run on her arse? Would there even be an expectation of support there?

Parents disapprove of their kids sexual shite all the time.
Gay people must be uber soft to white about it.
Its narcissism. they believe it makes them special.

Very good question.

47k posts, all of the haters seem to have something in common.
You claim posting on a forum site is stupid, you are judgmental against those that do, yet you post like crazy.
You claim that being Gay is gross and disgusting, you are judgmental against those that are gay, yet you....

Its shitty social justice rhetoric.
My parents didn't support my "sexual preferences" when I was a teen, for sure.

Correct answer.

You support them finding a healthy relationship that brings happiness into their lives, and you dont care what genitals are involved.

Statistically more people "come out" during Pride Month than any other time. I just made that up. Give the kid a Target gift card and wish him well.

The question is who is doing the disowning? Again, why does them being estranged from their families necessarily have to mean they were not treated well by their families?
Historically, the trend in the gay community was one of being rejected by the mainstream, which is why gay bars became so important. Given that we will only have one side of the story, like in this example, how exactly are we supposed to characterize the actions of a group as 'good' or 'bad' exactly? Of course there has to be some in-between, because your sexual orientation doesn't speak to your quality as a person. But what do you think the general trend was? Do you think every gay person who came out to their family was greeted lovingly or something? It seems like you are making a great effort to describe situations working out according to your imagination in place of looking at what evidence can be produced in this case.

Again, this can work both ways.

Supporting your kid doesnt mean supporting all of his decisions.
The people who claim you have to "support" his decisions are dumb people and most likely do not or will not ever have teens.

What's creepy is that this quote would also apply if you had a 17 year old step-daughter. Would you ever think your step-daughter wants to smell your drawers?

My parents had nothing to do with who I dated or married. Not sure if you're talking about an arranged marriage scenario. If you mean have opinions on them, I imagine that will happen no matter what.
