Football, especially LSU football, especially LSU offensive line play, always makes me think of my dad. Listening to him unwrap the mysteries of football plays is one of my oldest and most favorite memories. He died when I was 14(lost in a private plane actually, and never heard from or found) so I don’t have a wealth of memories, but I’ll always have that.
I’m 72 now, might get a chance to see him again soon!

Fresh figs, remind me of summers at my Grandparents. They had a big arse fig tree near their house and had them coming out of their ears in the summer.

Anytime I pick up my chef’s knife I think of two old friends. One was murdered, and I bought the knife from his son who was selling cutco knives, trying to help him out a little. The other was a chef, and years before I had used his knife but didn’t wash it and it had a little stain as a result. So when I chop onions, maybe it’s the onions or maybe it’s me thinking about my old pals.

I have a rack of pipes from my grandfather, but I think about him everyday anyway.

Seeing cardinals

Cardinals pop up for me pretty frequently and I always take a moment to watch them until they fly away. Always remind me of my loved ones visiting.

Everytime I see a CD case with lines of ketamine cut up, I think about my brother.

When I open mail, I use my Grandfather's letter opener.
The metal blade is hand made and a really smart design. It's set in a piece of hand carved ivory, with a mark that identifies the man who made it.

OK, this gets weird just now. I pulled it out to look at it, and there are words engraved on the metal. I have never noticed them before. On one side it says A.W.Faber and the other side "Germany". He was there as a diplomat before WWI.

TJ Maxx. Whenever I visited my parents, we would go to lunch or dinner and walk it off afterwards at the Maxx. Every single time we were in there, I could hear my dad laughing with someone (friend or stranger) all the way across the store.
