Yeah I live in Amsterdam and certainly the scene has become a shell of its glory-days. Nonetheless you know the right peeps you get the legit strains. I don't go to coffeeshops because there's a lot of unflushed, subpar bud around (also lots of bomb but pricey). In coffeeshops you're paying at least 10 euros per gram for the super dank.
From my friend I get really loud dank for 7-8 euros per gram, certainly can't complain.
As for favorite strains:

Blue dream is an alltime fav. Grand Daddy Purp is another, and really any purple strain is fire, love love the taste of them.
I had some Irene recently that was some of the best I've had in a while, great taste, great smell, and looks amazing, the trifecta.

It's been 3 years since I've done it, but I use to like Lemon drop, train Wreck, cotton candy, white rhino, orange kush, blue dream, and sometimes just some kb for the light buzz.
Kinds I really didn't care for were sour diesel, and Purp. Purp wasn't terrible and I didn't mind it if I needed to go to bed because that stuff was like a tranquilizer for me, like mentioned above I absolutely love the taste of Purp though and that's the reason I couldn't say no to buying it on occasion lol. (Fruity pebbles anyone?)

Not really. Purple is an overrated genetic quality, and often a defect that occurs when it's grown in too cold of an environment.

Hmm I don't think you quite understand what moonrocks are do you? Not to be condescending. Anyway, Moonrocks are buds of weed which have been first dipped/coated in some sort of hash oil concentrate (wax, shatter, hash/flower rosin, etc.) and then coated again with kief on the outside . So in that sense moonrocks themselves are weed that has been "laced" (with other stronger cannabis preparations), so that's probably where the confusion stems from. You can't lace weed with moonrocks, moonrocks are the laced weed, does that make sense?
Lastly, quality of moonrocks can vary since you have 3 main components, which in turn all show variance in quality: the bud, the oil and the kief. If all three are at least halfway decent the moonrock should be quite potent. If all 3 are top quality, then it will be an extremely potent and tasty smoke. They sell 'em here in Amsterdam and a lot of the hardcore pothead tourists (especially the Brits) go crazy for 'em but really they're marked up here, 40 euro a gram (in coffeeshops). You'd be better off just buying some actual shatter or crumble for that price ya know?

They're strong, but it's really just a gimmick. It's Buds soaked in hash oil, then rolled in kief and dried. Very strong, but weaker than concentrates, and often more expensive. I'd rather just add some wax to my joint or bowl. That would be stronger and cheaper.

Not really. I rarely see legit nl in Colorado. It's a victim of its own success. A lot of shitty growers have tried to create their own version. That's led to a lot of supposed nl with inferior genetics.
