I'm surprised they didn't clear the area before setting a road block like that. That was clearly going to end in devastation regardless with the way it was set up. But I guess that's a better ending than him making the interstate. They've got major construction going on now just east of there on i20 so it could have ended with him killing or hurting some workers real bad.

Criminals are dumb. If this guy walked away from a work release or trash crew, he probably has a short stretch for drugs or something. Now he is probably going to Angola. Wouldn't be surprised if they try to charge him with attempted murder for the lady in the car.
