I'm not sure how it is now, but when I lived in Alaska there were some serious laws against doing anything to bother bald eagles.

But are you really bothering one if it's swooping down on you and your dog and you are just trying to protect yourself?

Could you see having to go to court over that? Prove the bird was out to attack?

First of all, they have no way of knowing if it was dead before the eagle got it. Methinks that's a way of them making people feel less uneasy.

I can only imagine the discourse that goes on there. Must be riveting. Did the national eagle chat boards not think this was big enough news to take up the discussion?

That's a good question. I really have no idea how that would work out. The girl I knew never had the chance. The eagle was in and out before they could do anything.

But Rachel Handel, a spokeswoman for the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania, tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the feeding behavior was perfectly normal.

Do they really have to explain this?

Can you get more American than a Bald Eagle eating pussy?

I don't think so.

All birds of prey are federally protected. A few years ago a pro golfer was filming a video in Florida and he struck some kind of rare falcon with a shot and killed it completely by accident. There was some shite and I think he had to pay a fine.

I would guess the eagle killed it. Don't they take animals up to cruising altitude and then drop them and pick them back up?

Thought I heard once that they (or maybe some other bird) did that with turtles but that could just be an urban myth.

They are scavengers. The chicken processing plants in Arkansas are swarmed with eagles eating the shite that gets thrown out. They are pretty nasty animals.
