That doc told him he had three months to live a month ago. So.....dad decided to get some oil and use it.

Your father was diagnosed with cancer and your great grandchild got a DWI? How old is your father?

He just wants to keep it to himself. I suppose he's afraid that the dr will tell him to stop immediately or something. That can cause a whole lot of confusion in his mind as he likes his own regimen. Haha

I get the fear of that, but the doc can't make him stop, nor would he want to if it helps.

Sharing his use could be helpful to future patients. Urge him to tell the doc. The more exposure to potential benefits, the better.

Not really related but I have a question. Your great grandson got a DWI and your dad is still alive? Did you all have kids super young or do y'all just live for a really long time?

Why not? What did the doc say when his numbers came in? This seems like valuable information for the doc to know.

It's a schedule 1 drug. In the eyes of government, the dea, and science it has no medical use. It would be good info for a doc and a lot of doc's are interested in studying further, however with it being a schedule 1, they cant.

They cant advise patients to take marijuana oil. Unfortunately, in this day and age, its probably better not to tell you doc your taking it.

I understand, but nothing will change in regards of rescheduling if the med community doesn't speak up.

I disagree. I don't know of any doctor that would call the DEA on a terminally ill cancer patient because he's taking something to relieve his excruciating pain nor do I know of a cop that would arrest someone for that or take their supply.

This doctor is regarded as the best cancer dr in nola. Which I assume means that he has a lot of pride and confidence. If a patient were to tell him that he/she has been taking a drug without his knowledge, he doesn't seem like the type to say "damn.....nice job". He seems like the type to say "what in the hell are you doing? I didn't tell you to take this!!"

I get it, but it seems hard to argue with tangible results. Would he stop treating him if he told him about it? What did he attribute the lower numbers to?

Thats to many what if's in my opinion. No one would tell there doc they were taking hereion, lsd, mdma, etc because it opens a door that cant be closed. It is ridiculous that marijuana is considered the same as those others.

One other thing to consider are local laws, in Texas for instance marijuana oil (just the oil form) is classified differently. Possession of any cannabis oil in Texas is an automatic state jail felony with mandatory minimum sentences. Oils are not classified the same as regular pot and there is no pleading down etc if you possess oil.

Nobody in Texas, Even a dying cancer patient, should admit committing a felony to anyone.

Medically, for anything to happen with marijuana is has to be rescheduled first, then a doc can get involved and start studying it.

People tell doctors that all the time

I get it, but a doctor ratting on a terminally ill patient who is seeking relief deserves a special place in hell. So do any cops or judges that arrest/prosecute someone for that.

That's the catch 22. They have to prove it has medicinal value first and they can't perform research without rescheduling it.

I have a relative with Parkinsons. I would love to get cannabis oil for him. I have no idea how to even go about doing that.
