At least 1/4 of military claim disability.
A very large portion are bullshite claims.
Of course if get blown up or lose a limb that's way different.
Mandatory military would lead to way more disability claims. Would further destroy the VA and overall budget.

That would be the absolute best way to decimate our already being decimated fighting force.
It's bad enough that warriors have to deal with the freaks that WANT to be there. Adding a bunch of freaks that would be there only because they HAVE to be there is a nightmare scenario.

Israel has constantly been in an existential conflict since they were formed. Plus their population is far lower than ours.

I understand your basic point, however, I don't want my son going fight a war just to cover up Biden's fricking crimes and divert attention from his issues. If your Government is the enemy and hates its citizens and constantly lies to you, why would someone want to fight for them?

I don't think bringing back the draft is a good idea, but making every American experience boot camp should be mandatory and would add structure to many young people's lives.
After boot camp they can have option to leave military, join reserves, or become active duty.
