s it really that hard to change the clock twice a year? It does have its benefits.

There a lot of us in agriculture that our days don't end at 5:30/6pm sunsets. The extra hour of daylight is a huge benefit when you have livestock depending on you for feed or health issues.

Pick one. Either one. Just, for the love of God, stop dicking with the clocks!

This is pretty much where I’m at as well.

IDGAF whether it’s standard or DST, just pick one.

ETA: I will say this though.. one way or another, days will be shorter in the winter and longer in the summer. IMO, it makes zero sense to even consider summer time as part of the decision. It all comes down to when you want the sun to rise/set in the winter.

Personally, I’d be fine with the status quo of ~7 AM sunrise and ~5:30 PM sunset around the winter solstice. I think that probably makes more sense than the alternative of 8 AM sunrise and 6:30 PM sunset. Permanent standard time is basically status quo without the pointless time change.

But honestly, people will adjust either way. Either way is better than disrupting everyone’s circadian rhythm twice a year.

I don’t like it still being daylight later in the evenings; gets too close to my own bed time.

It's natural.

The sun is natural.
Studies show that the body syncs up with the sun.
Consequently, daylight savings is almost 8 months long. Because of the sun.

Those of us who love the sun wish we kept DST those extra 4 months. That is what we are arguing over.120 days of the year.

Splitting the difference on the clock screws up the point of reference on the globe

the time zones will all still be in the exact same places using the exact same lines.

humans completely made up the current clock a long arse time ago.
we realized the calendar was fricked up and made adjustments to it centuries ago.

If we figure out a way for 49 states to adjust their times 60 minutes twice every single year, then I'm pretty sure somebody can figure out a way to adjust them 30 minutes one time and then never again.

this coming March 10th, instead of moving your clock ahead 1 hour, only move it 30 minutes.

that's it. We're done.
don't have to move it again in the fall and again next spring, etc.

Edit to Add: a quick google search tells me there is zero consistency across the globe with Daylight saving time.
Us and most of Canada observe it.
Mexico and Central America do not. Most of South America do not.
Europe, Egypt, and Part of Australia observe it, and literally the entire rest of the Eastern Hemisphere do not.

and not anywhere close to a consensus on what dates the clocks change.
