I love me a creole 7th ward hardhead WOKE priest
It’s gonna be great watching all the parishioners drown in maga tears for the next 30 years. Definitely loving this leftward push for the church - bring back holiness! Hopefully this will help retain the good, rationale, well intentioned people in the church and bring back our good brothers and sisters that left for legitimate reasons.
In all seriousness, I think this is great for America, and great for Catholicism. We need religion in this country and Catholicism can be great. But we need a more universal approach, and the toxic conservative abusive Catholicism of yesteryear needs to be rid of.

I don't know how to respond to that, it is essentially what he said.
When it comes to the Pope I do not have overly fixed beliefs and have defended him in this thread and elsewhere.
I disagreed with Francis on many issues, fully, but also somewhat understood where he was coming from biblically, even if I disagreed.
A Pope is not going to fit fully into American Political boxes, nor should he.

The Catholicism sub Reddit pretty much despises every politician in the United States.

90% of politicians should be despised.

I came into the church under Pope Francis. I appreciated how focused he was on Jesus’s love for our fellow man. I am politically on the conservative side. In the past I would be considered center right.
I understand the Church has a greater vision and calling that at times will be at odds with my political stances and as an American.
But I feel deeply that Francis was made pope to refocus us all on Jesus’s love of his fellow man. Jesus became man so that he might experience man. Knowing that he would be betrayed he preached love. Francis took up that mantle. Where he fell short was in his ambiguity.
I hope and pray that Pope Leo XIV continues that focus of love and compassion while being more direct in his teaching.
