Stunningly dumb.
The Chinese can't sail a nuclear sub down a *river* without sinking the damned thing. They struggle to operate outside of sight of land, and have no logistical support train that would allow a blue water capacity.
One of those 'carrier groups' is an ex-casino, and another is a cheap facsimilie of that ex-casino.
They aren't a peer power, they aren't a near peer power, they aren't even in the neighborhood.

The Chinese are building a modern navy at a frightening rate,
Are they, though?
They have a frick ton of individual boats, but look up the tonnage they have compared to our navy. It's not even close. They're building a bunch of junk that still doesn't have them as a "blue water" navy. It's a bunch of coastal patrol boats.

South La shipyards could ramp up in a year and out build the bull shite that these chicken littles are giving the chinese credit for.
They might could have a big enough navy that attack Tawain. LOL

A lot of this sounds like the 1920s and 30s when everyone was laughing at Japan...

That’s what’s sad about this thread. Everyone thinks naval warfare is just about aircraft carriers. But that’s only one part of the equation. You have to have the ability to support those aircraft carriers. That requires a whole hell of a lot of support ships to keep the carriers not only safe, but also supplied. And then there is the matter of making up for losses. If it came down to a shooting war with China, as things stand today, China has the capability to replace losses on their fleet. We do not.
Let the downvotes rain down. But it’s the irrefutable truth. And the longer we deny it, the longer we keep whistling past the graveyard instead of doing something about it.

whats sad about your post is the technology of warfare has substantially changed and the US holds the overwhelming advantage over both china and russia
We aren't needing to move troops and supplies across oceans anymore we can just kill the enemy with drones while sitting safely ensconced in a chair thousands of miles away
go build a model

What’s sad about your post it is shows you have no concept of logistics.

Look, I love you brother, but you’re in over your head here.

great argument
no facts
Warfare has changed; we hold the technological advantage .
Where am I wrong?

I spelled out where you’re wrong.
1. China has the capability to make good its losses in a naval war while we don’t (see my first post on this thread)
2. Even with technology, logistics still is what wins wars. It was our ace in the hole that won WWII and made us the dominant military force in the world for the second half of the 20th century. And as things stand today, we lack the naval logistics capability to sustain a protracted war on the other side of the Pacific against China. I don’t like it. I freaking hate it. But it’s time we as a country admit it and address the problem because it’s not a problem that is a quick fix. China has been gearing up for a war in the South China Sea for decades. It’s time we do the same.

He was in the motor pool. He may have backed a tank into the shop to change the oil and swap out glow plugs. But that’s about it.
I once built a model of the Millennium Falcon. But you don’t see me prancing around claiming to be part wookie.

we won't be sending personnel which negates the need to move bodies and supplies due to the changing nature of warfare because of the technology
I win
and the tonnage,
our allies Japan which is growing their fleet.
Our significant advantage in submarines
in addition and perhaps more signifigent is India, and they've been amping up their ability, and the fact we don't need a huge advantage in numbers because we can bottleneck the Chinese fleet at the Malaca strait
bitch

Do we need more capacity?
It so - I’d be pissed if we outsourced Navy shipbuilding to Korea after shutting down Avondale.

Darth is correct. China’s shipbuilding capacity and their rapidly expanding blue water navy is going to make the USN second rate once they gain more experience with naval air. We don’t have the capacity to catch up with them. We have advantages in technology but they’re stealing it as fast as we come up with it and in some areas they’re advancing faster.
Re-industrializing the U.S. is the #1 priority for national security.
To emphasize, we held the competition to decide what proven design would be used for FFGX in 2018ish. It was supposed to be nearly plug and play. The USN went with the French/Italian FREMM design built by Fincantieri and they would expand their shipyard at Marine Marinette to build these new frigates. The first ship should be rolling off the line next year. So far we have not one keel laid down and haven’t finished constantly changing design parameters including basic shite like hull length.
We are absolutely fricked sideways in naval procurement right now. Every ship design has been massive to moderate failure at least in the short term and we have over a century of experience in operating a blue water navy.
