Back in the 70’s Detroit had over 1million people . I know things have changed an people move to the suburbs, but what happened to Detroit was awful. The inner city people said screw it. That’s why as of this past year had a population of under the million mark. That takes away a lot of federal funds.... the riots back in the 60’s started this movement.

Detroit's population has gone from 1.5 million in 1970 to 700k in 2010 with only 10% being white. It is currently estimated to have a pop of 667K. And that is with gentrification efforts in the downtown area that started a number of years ago.

Detroit hasn't had 1 million people in quite a while.
