Is presidential election voting really the most meaningful determinant?

Does La. feel a lot like Texas or Florida to you from an overall political standpoint?

You realize Joe Biden almost took Texas in the last presidential election?

Donald Trump*
GOP
5,890,347
52.1%

Joe Biden
DEM
5,259,126
46.5%

Republicans control both chambers of the state legislature.

AG is Republican

Lt Gov is Republican

Sec of State is Republican

Republicans control the majority on the Public Service Commission

Commissioner of Insurance is Republican.

This is an obvious red state even if some of these individuals are not conservative enough for you.

Gotcha....most of the work around here is Hard Rock and their subs.

The problem is, the SWB and DPW find damage under the roads and it has to be fixed by them before the contractors can finsigh the job, so in the meantime of SWB and DPW gets approval for funding, change orders, etc.....the contractors go to another site and start a new project leaving the other project the started unfinished while the city grants approval and funding for SWB/DPW to fix whatever the issues are.

It's a complete shitshow......from Uptown/Broadmoore/Carrolton/University to Mid City and Lakeview.....There is no possible way you can drive anywhere in this city right now and not go through a construction site or get detoured around one.

I pretty much just ride my bike when I can

All politics are local. How does voting for Trump or John Kennedy have any affect on daily life living in New Orleans, Baton Rouge or Shreveport?

Blue state or red state, it's completely irrelevant.

YAY! John Kennedy voted for some conservative thingy that I like. But my city is a crime-ridden shithole with a crumbling infrastructure.

Whoever controls the state legislature controls how the maps are set up. If the way the Republicans in this state set up the congressional maps is not considered gerrymandering, then what the frick is it?

All gerrymandering is bad regardless of who does it, and both sides are guilty of it.

All districts should be set up based on already established city and/or parish borders. Period.
