"Altercation" between Brooks and the Deputies while getting his negative covid test result.

Do we know what happened? I was in a meeting and missed the last 90 minutes.

They went to break so we didn't see anything.
Basically, he wouldn't turn over his Covid test results.
When they went to break, judge had sheriffs get it and he made a ruckus.

Judge knew what was likely about to happen so she cleared the courtroom and went off the record for deputies to get the test results off of his desk

Brooks knows the outcome and this is his last chance to be acknowledged and have a moment in the spotlight.

He is going down for multiple life sentences so this is it for him.

Sounds like he came from a shitty childhood and had no chance in life.

We are all very lucky and should be thankful we were born to good families and good environments.

Brooks is Mr. Pouty Man now.

He's got a big Bible on the table in front of him.

This is ridiculous. They need to just assign him counsel and move on.

That's a load of crap. My friend grew up in Cabrini Green (sp?)the worst projects ,at the time, in Chicago. He and his brothers were raised by just their mom. All 3 brothers are college educated with great jobs.

Both of these statements can be true...just because someone is in a "hood" and being raised by a single Mom, they don't necessarily go down the wrong path...on a macro level, neither situations really give a good chance to thrive.

On a micro level we don't know how effective the Mom was, what crowd the kid surrounds themself with, what choices the kid makes, potential mental issues, etc...one kid, such as Brooks' case might not really have had a chance in life whereas the three brothers did take to good mothering, no mental issues, hanging out with good friends...both statements are viable simultaneously regardless of them all being raised in the hood so to say.

This nonsense needs to stop. Parents are, at best, an influence for good or for evil. They are not child programmers. Children ultimately make their own choices and must be 100% held accountable for it. We don't even need to talk about influence when it comes to punishments. We can and should talk about it everywhere else, but it is inconsequential here.

That's great but the data is overwhelming that being born poor and too shitty parents you are likely to have shitty outcomes such as in this case.

Congrats on the survivorship bias.

I am not excusing Mr. Brooks actions; I am merely making an observation that he was born into a shitty situation.

Huh? I quite literally in the sentence of my post before the one you quoted listed the choices the kid makes as one of the factors in how a child turns out. Also, parents do absolutely influence their kids largely if they are doing a good job at being a parent and the inverse is true as well. I would submit to you that I am not the one posting the "nonsense" here.
