That's what I think. He almost treated his opening like the testimony portion of the penalty phase. The only thing that was missing was him saying "I'm sorry"

This really does sound like his sentencing statement to ask for leniency. I also think the crying is real because he knows it is getting closer to the end.
He also thinks he's not a monster after killing 6 people, injuring 60 more, and running. How does he have no self awareness?
