You've got to admit that this is pretty cool.

Russia has, for the first time, targeted Islamic State targets in Syria with Kalibr land-attack cruise missiles launched from a submarine in the Mediterranean Sea, according to Russia’s Defense Minister.
The 3M-54 Kalibr missiles were launched from the Kilo-class diesel-electric submarine “Rostov-on-Don”, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu told President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.

I served aboard the USS Pittsburgh, the first submarine to launch a TLAM in combat.
That was Desert Storm in 1991 (before I was stationed on her)
There was a plaque in the midlevel passageway commemorating the event.
here's a video of a US sub launching a TLAM Youtube
The US has launched sub based TLAMS in virtually every conflict since Desert Storm.
One CO received the damn Silver Star when his ship, the USS Miami launched on Yogoslavia. I remember everyone shaking their heads on that one.

I wonder how many missiles malfunctioned and went off course.

Launching a cruise missile from a sub at the surface doesn't impress me much. The complicated part is launching while submerged.

so be it...let someone else get their hands dirty and spend some money...weve been doing it nonstop since 9-11

Launching cruise missiles while submerged? Absolutely. My sub had vertical launch tubes but you can also launch out of a torpedo tube. You essentially create a gas bubble that the missile rides inside on it's way up to the surface. A booster rocket ignites at the surface and brings the missile to an altitude of 50-100' (I can't remember) until the jet engine takes over propulsion

RUS reminds me of the dude who tries way too hard to garb attention. Meanwhile everyone one else is saying "Oh look, the douchebag is at it again."
Didn't they recently use their Supersonic bomber to bomb oil refineries? While it's a cool looking aircraft. I'm sure it's like most of their military products. Painted rust.
