When mine broke I called home 360. There may be better services but they do well fixing my shite.

Napoleon is an appliance repairman. Maybe he can help if that doesn't work. It doesn't seem like you'd be the type who would have a tester to check if it works or not. Just bang it and press the switch a bunch of times fast

Youtube whirlpool washer timer.

The timer can jump out of sync. It has a pin in the back of the timer knob. Take that pin off and and pull off the knob and see if the gears are out of sync.

Its pretty obvious to tell. Mine did this about a year ago.

Lid kit switch. Mine has been replaced twice. I did it the last time not hard. I owned a laundry mat for 3 years this was very common on my machines. From your problem that has to be it. About a 40 dollar fix
