I kinda feel bad for the soldiers nowadays because they will never know the pleasure of wearing pressed & starched BDU's that could stand on their own along with tanker boots you could just about see your reflection on the toe.

I was really hoping they would bring back jungle boots.

Most comfortable boots right there.

Those aren't jungle boots

Vader, that BS is true. They do get stress cards, etc.

I counseled an E-5 who could not pass APFT and HT/WT. I explained to the SM I was recommending demotion for failure to maintain standards.

That SM told me straight up, "If I knew what the standard was I'd follow it".

I almost lost all bearing. I could not believe it. They had been counseled three prior times and explained multiple times. That "NCO" knew the standard in and out. Needless to say, the IG complaint did not stand.

They had a total of 4 years TIS.

That's what we get for promoting too quickly.

Still a dull looking toe.

I've always preferred issued boots. Because I'm cheap.

I've tried to press ACU. Does not work at all. Tears the Velcro up.

OCP's are better but not by much. I'm glad we're back to something resembling BDU at least.

No they aren't. Jungle boots are canvas on the sides with ventilation holes. Those are standard issue combat boots.

I wore BDU's / DCU's for 4 years before the transition.

Hate the new stuff but is what it is.

Now those are jungle boots. They'd let us wear any boot we wanted except those. I wore these...

Still have them in fact.

I wore Corcaran 2's most of the time. If I was feeling lazy I'd hit them with Mop and Glow. I kind of miss doing my uniform every night. It was like meditation.
