Want to Get Away with a Crime? Start taking Chantix.

The smoking-cessation drug Chantix has now played a crucial role in a second violent crime. On Monday, a Maryland man was found not criminally responsible for shooting his wife in the neck in their home in 2014 because he was found to be suffering from "involuntary intoxication" due to Chantix. His wife survived.

Last year, an Army soldier, who brutally stabbed another soldier to death in 2008, won a new hearing because the judge in his original trial refused to let him put on an involuntary intoxication defense. The soldier claimed that he was so neurologically disturbed by Chantix that he was not aware of what he was doing. A military court then reduced his sentence from life without parole to 45 years.

He said he had one where everyone was trying to stab him. he freaked out in bed and scared his wife half to death.

Sounds about right, but the really scary shite was that you felt like you were awake during the dreams. It got to the point where I was questioning if I was awake when I really was. Even did some research on lucid dreaming to confirm whether I was awake or not at given times.
I love loosening my mind from reality occasionally, but that was unenjoyable.

My Dad took this shite for a few weeks and had suicidal thoughts while he was awake. Told me he'd be driving to work and all of sudden have thoughts about running his truck of a bridge or into a wall. Told me he was scared he was going to hurt someone or himself so he stopped taking it and quit cold turkey instead. Dangerous shite.

I know two people who killed themselves on Chantix.
I have no idea how that drug is marketed and sold as a safe and good way to quit smoking.

I am currently 10 weeks in, only taking half the prescribed dosage.
I missed 2 days but took it yesterday at lunch.
I am still not sure if I slept last night or not.
I am not a violent person but can easily see how the medicine could intensify it.

But...but...but...
The woman in the commercial looks so nice and happy, sitting on the park bench reading her newspaper while the voiceover lists the 2,423 side effects....

had an uncle that tried Chantix for a few weeks. He woke up in his front yard, pissing. He said frick it, I'd rather smoke and still does.

I used it and it worked like a charm. I didn't have any nightmares or whatever. Maybe that means I'm already fricked up. I haven't smoked since.

All drug commercials spend the first 5 seconds telling you what it does, then the rest of the ad dares you to take it.

Yep. You'll get renal failure and anal seepage but sure as shite it is worth it because that acne cleared right up.

I had a friend in college who took chantix, it really messed with him and he had to go to a rehab center to address the suicidal thoughts that he was having even after he quit taking it. He's doing well now but every time I read about this stuff it just seems worse and worse. You're probably better off smoking than taking this stuff.

Hell, most meds give me weird dreams. I've taken Tylenol PM twice - the first time I dreamed I was the subject of an exorcism and the second time I woke up and thought I was in Hawaii. After that I said to hell with it.

Just don't take pharmaceuticals. They're not natural and our bodies aren't built to or meant to take these high-powered super concentrates.
