Any idea why high profile attorneys in Lake Charles run for these seats?
What do they gain from it?
Who do you think wins?

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Lake Charles attorney Walt Sanchez has announced plans to challenge Judge Ron Richard for his seat on the city court.
Richard is one of two judges on the Lake Charles City Court, representing District B. He has practiced law in Southwest Louisiana for 30 years.
Since taking office in 2021, Richard said he has made changes such as modernizing court processes, implementing an expedited court calendar, launching the Fresh Start Amnesty Program, expanding access to court information and adding more convenient and flexible payment options.
Sanchez has practiced law for over four decades and served on the Sulphur and Lake Charles city courts as judge pro tempore for more than 20 years. He said his campaign will focus on “strict adherence to the law, public safety, timely movement of court dockets, respect for victims’ rights, and firm accountability for violent and repeat offenders.”
City court judges handle local civil, traffic, and criminal misdemeanor matters for Ward 3.
District A Judge Jamie Bice is also up for reelection this year after serving two terms. At last word, no one has announced plans to run against him.

It’s a part time gig. They can judge and practice law at the same time.
