How is that any different than falsely claiming a bandanna is preventing people from spreading a virus they may or may not have that more than 99% of people survive with minimal to no problems?

One might be incorrect. One is a willful lie.

I assume they taught you the difference in kindergarten.

Absolute worst case scenario of wearing a mask is being slightly uncomfortable for a few minutes of your day. Just wear the fricking mask.

What if you were told to hop on one foot for 10 seconds when you entered a store? Worst case scenario you are slightly uncomfortable for not even a minute.

Then I would either hop on one foot for 10 seconds, or I would turn my happy arse around and leave.

What I wouldn't do is lie about an injury to get out of it, because doing so would be fricking pathetic.

That would be the store's right, as long as they provide a reasonable accommodationfor people with disabilities that prevent them from being able to do so. Just like it would be any consumer's right not to patronize said store.

In most of the country masks are mandated by the local or state government, it is not left up to the store/business owner.

So when will society grow a pair and say frick it to masks? Will these people wear a mask forever or until the educated Fauci tells them it’s safe?

If I wanted to shop there I would hop on one foot for 10 seconds. If there were other options available that didn't have asinine requirements I would go spend my money there.

Yea. I might have a medical condition I don’t even know about that could be negatively impacted by wearing a mask. Or I might be incorrect.

No one has any data showing that bandannas or cloth masks are stopping the spread of covid-19, but all of this messaging says they do. That is a willful lie.

They taught me that the value of supporting facts with evidence in kindergarten. Sorry your experience was more focused on useless feelings.

Except they have also said they aren't making the stores enforce them. And this whole conversation is about a Walmart-specific policy.

So fining stores and threatening their licenses for not making customers wear masks isn’t making the stores enforce them?

Who is doing that? This entire discussion is about Walmart, the largest retailer in the nation, NOT enforcing mask mandates.

The thread title reads “Walmart and others.” Also conversations often take turns to similar/related relevant topics. You don’t get to decide what the discussion is about.

And people who are conspiracy theorist and believe this whole thing are orchestrated are the absolute worst. Talk to hospital workers in Lafayette who are overwhelmed. This isn’t fake. I have a family member who is an icu nurse who told my elderly parents to not return home from visiting family in West Virginia because if they got sick they literally can’t care for them at the hospital. And for those of you who point to the fact that they can convert other beds to icu beds (which is already very concerning if you have to do this) that isn’t the whole issue. It’s that they now don’t have enough icu staff to care for the influx of patients. She is literally overwhelmed at work because of all the sick patients from this and then we have people saying it’s all a farce. Seriously, frick you.

Mayo clinic article about the effectiveness of different face coverings

“Asking everyone to wear cloth masks can help reduce the spread of the virus by people who have COVID-19 but don't realize it.”

Apparently kindergarten didn’t teach you the definition of the word data either.

This study is the first RCT of cloth masks, and the results caution against the use of cloth masks. This is an important finding to inform occupational health and safety. Moisture retention, reuse of cloth masks and poor filtration may result in increased risk of infection. Further research is needed to inform the widespread use of cloth masks globally. However, as a precautionary measure, cloth masks should not be recommended for HCWs, particularly in high-risk situations, and guidelines need to be updated.

An article with actual data that shows cloth masks could result in making the wearer more sick. See how that works?
