I'm putting in a home theater and I want to go wood on the walls and floor. Is this an acoustic nightmare? Or should I just go sheetrock and just wood on the floor. I want wall to ceiling wood. Is there any other material better for sound?

Have you ever seen tile or wood or another hard material in a theater?

You answered your question. You need to absorb sound not have it echo. Honestly, you should carpet the whole thing

If you want to build the room for the purpose of watching high quality TV/movies, going all wood doesn't make any sense.

If you want the room to look nice, but not stand up to it's purpose, go all wood.

14th century Flemish tapestries on the walls. Exposed fiberglass batts on the ceiling to show your electic taste.

You need to put sheetrock and maybe even soundboard behind the sheetrock.

I wish I would have put the sound board up when I built mine.

I would not recommend wood flooring.

Never, but then theaters aren't spending a ton of money. They just want to spend money on the projection and screen. And maybe seating

What kind of flooring do you recommend? Can you PM me your email if you've built a theater because I have questions. Thanks Fred.

You could do something like cementitious wood fiber panels or put up some acoustic panels over your hard surface.

Given his ideas so far, I would say he probably the more likely to have a goat milking going on.

What an idiot.

No that room was converted back into a bedroom. The theater is going upstairs. We are adding 2 rooms up there.

Carpet Floors
Sound board behind all sheet rock
Thick Curtains over any windows

Any wood or ceramic tile would make it sound like crap even if you purchase the best electronics on the market.

Can I do commercial grade short carpet because I don't want to clean this thick carpet crap all the time.

And no windows. Totally windowless.

You need to come over either after it's done or bring a hammer and help.
