don't walk my dog on his leash, but always have the slip leash on me in case someone comes out of their house or is walking too. I regularly duck hunt w/ my dog so he's pretty well trained and will stop on command.

also usually go out at 630 before everyone else is up so we rarely encounter people.

One neighbor has 2 yorkies, and every now and again I'll run into him. His 2 dogs are never on-leash. I'll have my lab on leash and they'll run up as he's sitting next to me. They'll start yapping and nipping at him, so finally he goes nuts. I figured, screw this crap if they want some they can get it, so I let him off. Them dogs usually turn around when they see us now lol

I asked why he didnt have them on a leash and he grabbed a shovel to try and hit me because I told him it was illegal to have them off of a leash. Great guy.

Sounds about right.

Yup. I had my bitch on a leash, she's about 60 lbs. A little yappy terrier type runs up and jumps on her and owner runs out of her house and starts screaming at me when my dog decides to fukk it up.

I won’t argue that they are some amazingly intelligent and trained dogs, but at the end of the day they’re still an animal that could do something that they weren’t supposed to do.

In my experience the folks with well trained dogs are considerate enough to keep them on a leash when they're supposed to. It seems like it's always the dogs that have no business being loose that are loose.

Having a dog that won't heel without a leash is trashy. I can't stand dogs who don't heel and spend the entire time struggling on the end of a leash barking at everything that passes.

My dog can walk with me for our 4 mile walk off-leash and never leave my side unless released to do so.

Why do I need a leash?

I have two dogs, that are mediumish (leaning slightly towards small) size. When I go outside (in the front.. the back yard is fenced in and they have a big area to run around), they stay within a certain radius of me.

One of them

My Lab is E-collar trained 100%. Walks everyday with me at the towns most popular walking area (Beach boardwalk). Anytime we near someone I don't recognize he is heeled to my side and I hold his leather collar. All is well.

I am 100% by having a well trained dog that stays at heel. How is having a dog yanking on the end of a lead without any real control courteous?

It’s not. It’s rude. I am told multiple times a week by complete strangers they wished peoples children were as well behaved as my dog.
