For the first time in human history, most of the people on earth have their needs satisfied. Crime and war has plummeted. 3 times as many people have died from obesity as famine in 2015 and most famine arose from political constructs. And healthcare is entering a a golden age of possibilities where scientists have talked about doubling or tripling the lifespan of human beings within the next century.

But people aren’t any happier. I think you could say, people generally are less happy.

Why is that? There are a bunch of theories and it’s all semantics.

The question is, what can we do to make the human race as a whole, happier. I think the answer is civic pride.

Technology has made so much of what we want to accomplish possible. But technology has become an end instead of a means to an end. There is nothing truly prideful in incremental technological advancements

The question I keep asking myself is, what do we look to have pride in and have a vision towards working for?

I think that is what leadership has to answer for and that civic long term pride is simply lacking. The only great innovator that has inspired people that immediately comes to mind is Elon Musk and he is arguably failing in several key areas (like his business being profitable).

People need challenges, people need to be creative. When things are easy, people are restless.

I would rather be hunting and gathering, than meeting with clients.

Men need a challenging but obtainable adventure to pursue. Too many men are content to punch a clock for a check and try to medicate themselves with toys and video games.

Women crave comfort and security. Mean need to achieve. We're being sedated at alarming rates

WHAT??????

You cannot be serious. His cars are junk. He cannot build them. His solar business is a bust and his rockets have reached a point that NASA did in 1970.

He is a hustler. plan and simple. None of his "business" would even exist without heavy government subsides. Does that inspire you? I would think not.

I've posted this before but what you are getting at is the reason why progressivism is at such great heights today.

Life is pretty damn good these days. We have it easy. And progressives are a result.

Past generations had wars, poverty, actual racism and prejudices to overcome.

People had a purpose then. Now, if you don't have or want a family, there isn't that much to fight for to be honest.

Not that I or anyone would ever want to hope for these things to happen to us, but it was a reason to fight, to live, and be proud of for the people who wen't through this level of hardship.

And btw, progressives will NEVER stop. By definition, nothing will ever be enough. It really is a mental disorder - the perpetual search for a cause when you have nothing to complain about.

Yet women are unhappy, as well. Maybe the paycheck represents a by-product of a man's ability to pursue adventure, and men have become too focused on the effect and not the cause.

I did note his businesses are failing. But you can’t deny people are inspired by what he’s done with the SpaceX program. Every time there’s a launch, we’re flooded with space stuff.

I think this is in large part because of the role society has thrust upon women. They're judged constantly by the way they look, dress and the house they live in.

Agreed. And I think that there are many who feel pressured to fulfill a 21st century ideal of a woman that may go against their nature.

I've always struggled with this thought.

Would this change if they constantly weren't judged?

I've never known any Muslim women that had to wear the full head to toe garb, but are they insecure?
