Or do you thinks it's just a coincidence that places don't include tax in the posted price? Or that most places price things at X.99?
I might be the odd consumer, but if a store started advertising prices with everything included, I would be more likely to shop there, as it at least hints at the crazy idea of honesty.

Tipping encourages good customer service. Where is the motivation for the server to go above and beyond if she's getting paid the same $7.50 an hour no matter how good or bad she is at her job?
Just ask yourself if you want the guy working fries at Burger King taking your ribeye order.

and yours?
What works in other countries doesn't necessarily translate here.
And if you're trying to one up me on how well traveled you are good luck.

1. Seems like she didn't get stiffed on anything.
2. Good that she got fired. I fricking hate people like her who blast things like this on social media. She deserves it.

Are you saying someone that works at BK couldn't write down an order?

Just stop.

Well-thought out rebuttal. I bookmarked it for later analysis

I just always took to The OT to call out the Healing Place Church for not tipping worth a frick on large deliveries to their Daycare.
You would think, if anyone would tip a pizza delivery guy, it would be a church. Someone working a job that doesn't pay much and depends on tips.. People who could use the help if you gave them a few extra dollars.. But them sons of bitches probably think "we don't tip someone for doing the lord's work".

Same here
I just don't think you can change the culture and dynamics that we have here overnight. And I don't expect it to change.

I guarantee you are. And that isn't an insult. I'm sure you're extremely educated and, in your mind, you can quickly balance the difference between an all-included set price point and a lower price point with hidden costs. But that makes you the exception, not the rule.
It may be simple but it's pretty easy to look at entire industries and ask "why do they do things this way?" The leaders of these industries aren't making financial decisions on a whim.

Or get a real job and don't complain how people with real jobs spend their money.

Lots of good, hard-working people in the service industry. Pretty shameful to look down on them, or anybody else, for that matter, who is trying to make an honest living.

Yes
I'm saying that the typical person who works in fast food could not consistently take orders and deliver food to 5-6 tables during a dinner rush.

And there other benefits to the tip system outside of overall cost to the consumer - the biggest being quality of service.
If I order two grilled chicken dinners and drink water, and my bill comes out to $35, I tip $7, and everyone is happy.
If I order two filets and drink a bottle of wine, my bill comes out to $100. If I tip the same $7 for the same level of service, that server will be insulted.
That's a broken system.

Actually all you asked was if I'd want them taking my order. Regardless, yea someone working at BK could easily be trained to work at fricking outback.

Have you ever worked in the food service industry?

Sure, but the skill and difficulty level of the jobs is probably a bigger gap than you think.
I know a girl that graduated as a Chem E that could not effectively wait tables in a medium priced restaurant.
It's an acquired skill that not everyone is good at.
Posted on 2/12/18 at 10:12 am to Antonio Moss
No. Do you think that changes the qualifications to work at outback?

I didn't say it wasn't harder. All I said was with training and average BK employee can easily work at outback.
