I'd assume the exact same way electric vehicles work on-road elsewhere.

In other words, the exact same old arguments as always will be prevalent in this thread with some saying there's no way to charge them while ignoring the options that do exist (solar, backup fossil fueled generator, etc) and others arguing that range isn't a factor because the added braking in slow crawling off-road conditions will extend the range.

Going with an all-electric drivetrain for vehicles that “will land as true off-roaders designed to venture far off the pavement. They won't be city-friendly crossovers.” is probably the dumbest iteration of new EVs I’ve seen so far.

C’mon man. Don’t you know EV’s make perfectly functional off-road vehicles. I often see quick charging stations on the way to the mountains. Look at Moab or Baja and see how well they do. Don’t be so negative

Looks like it is going to come factory equipped with the I-10 gulf coast Baw package/Bowed out tires.

How are you going to charge an EV when truly venturing off road suck as rock climbing, deserts, deep into the wilderness.

Sure maybe you can putter around the deer lease but that’s what golf carts are for

That doesn't mean putting AMC's 258-cubic-inch straight-six back into production; instead, the SUV and pickup variants of the Scout will land as true off-roaders designed to venture far off the pavement. They won't be city-friendly crossovers.

This doesn't add up to equal this:

Electric vehicles aren't performing well under stress at all. Look at the Hummer and Lightning when you put a slight tow load behind it and the range goes to shite fast. There isn't much difference between off-roading with bigger tires and towing when it comes to torque so I would imagine, unless they come up with a new and fantastic tech, that the range will crash off road and you might not make it back to the road.

Somewhere in the Scout brochure:

"VW engineers worked hard at solving the 'needs a quart of oil every 10 days' that all of our other engines have needed. We're proud of this accomplishment."

Honestly I'd take one with a very simple gas or diesel engine before an electric one.
