My favorite GI Joe sets were the Tiger Force. I pitched many fits to get some of those. Lol

Prior to WWII, Marklin (German toy mfg.) made a huge submarine, complete with a diecast crew that could be placed on the deck and conning tower of the sub. I tried to find a picture online, but all the subs were smaller versions.
I saw a picture in a magazine of a guy's toy train layout and the sub was in the background. I doubt there are more than a couple of examples around.

I had the aircraft carrier as a kid. Definitely was my all time favorite toy. GI Joe was my go to childhood toy.
Just a little backstory on me. My mom died when I was young and my maternal grandparents were given partial custody of me and I admit they spoiled me. Well fast forward to 2004 and I inherit tneir house and begin moving in. I came across a box and when I opened it, it was a large collection of my childhood GI Joes. I kept them packed up for a while, but finally put them on a shelf in my home office. When I look at them it takes me back and I can hear my grandparents’ voices.

I’ve always wondered if I actually had this or not. I did have a big aircraft carrier (which I would float in the pool) but I don’t know that it was actually the GI Joe carrier or an off brand one.

Holy shite! I had that aircraft carrier. You are right about the planes being some type of foam/rubber. The issue i had is that if a wing got bent bad enough it wouldn't fly right.
Thanks for bringing back to my childhood for a quick second.

The planes were a kind of foam rubber so they didn't destroy things or break themselves.
I was just remembering that fact and thanks for the confirmation.

I got a Flying Aces Attack Carrier for Christmas as a kid. I thought it was pretty cool.
But if you want a spoiler, as an adult I now know that the real CV-62, U.S.S. Independence, as not commissioned until 1959--i.e., long after WWII and the planes on it were used.

It was always a sure fire way to tell if a kid was a spoiled piece of shite if he had the GIJoe aircraft carrier.
Guilty!

I had this and it broke immediately. Got a replacement and it broke quickly also. Too bad because it was cool for the few times I was able to launch the planes.

I don’t remember the aircraft carrier but I swear I had those planes.
