Next time you see a cop ask him or her that especially in certain parts of town whether as a matter of practice they assume anyone and everyone they have an encounter with has a gun. The answer will be yes.
It's just common sense to only shoot someone you suspect of having a gun when you are pretty damn certain they actually have a gun. Im pretty shocked that the accepted belief is shoot to kill if someone's merely grasping at their waistband, ESPECIALLY when running away.

We were all 16 once and the kid was scared so he ran, the cop should be tried and sent to jail. I am a former marine and this is excessive force. The kid wasn't fast and the cop should have ran him down and tackled him. Not like it was a dark alley and the kid jumps out at you, surely if he was armed he wouldn't have ran he would've turned and engaged you with the weapon. Sad...

Reaching to pull your pants up in daylight after jumping a fence, with clear visibility does not pass the smell test of he was reaching for a gun. The cop shot him through a fence, what happens if he missed and hit a kid or the bullet exited the 16 year old and hit a child? Excessive force and in this case, deadly force was not warranted because there was no imminent threat of life toward the officer.

Out of curiosity, had this been a 16 or 17 yr old female of similar stature in that video, everything else the exact same, would you still believe it justified?

AT NO POINT in the video is that kid reaching in his waistband. Come the frick on man. He's CLEARLY pulling up his pants while he's RUNNING AWAY. This one has zero gray area.

It may even be the case that his bare arse was exposed after being shot due to his pants falling so much prior to the shot. Looked like it to me.
