Uncle Si ?

On just my street alone growing up there were three Air Force pilots. Two fathers of kids I grew up with and one kids older brother. All three shot down, two died, one spent six years in Hanoi Hilton. When he came out he saw a six year old daughter he didn't even know he had.

My father fought all over the South Pacific in WWII.

I employ several veterans of various aptitude.

I allow the discussions and politely listen. It's not really hard to do.

Unless he fought in WW2 that statement is false and I hate hearing it.

We get it...you were too dumb to even be a combat cook so you've been working at Walmart since then. No need to take it out on a guy that just signed his DD214 and is proud of his service.

My 91 year old WW2 vet navy man grandpa wears his veterans hat with pride. Says nothing of it. Tells us very little. But the thanks he gets while at restutants, casinos, cruises, etc will sometimes bring him to tears yet make him smile and stand proud of his service and the service of the fine men he served with.

Thank him for protecting your freedoms by preventing the inevitable invasion of America by Iraq.

You're a dick, he put his life on the line for you and made it possible for you to talk shite about him on a message board.

ETA: It does bother me, as much as the guys who go out to eat or shopping in their uniforms. Go home and change.

Just like the losers that feel the need to mention they're a veteran during the terrible class introductions.

Great! Watching Davey and Goliath tapes in the den, but still bugging us for latest Christian video games!

I don't even like using military discounts. I'm no different than anyone else because I joined.

For every douchebag veteran that constantly fishes for compliments, there are ten who actually did work in the military and think those people scum.

This is somewhat true... Wouldn't say it's every 10. Everyone I hang out with in the military are people you wouldn't know were in if it weren't for our hair and lack of facial hair. I live in a city that gets pretty fed up with the military here because of these types.
