School Board is a freaking joke.
38K raise! deciding vote cast by an appointed member, who is family to a siting sb member.

Superintendents in Louisiana and Mississippi on average make more money than any other superintendents in the country. Think about that for a minute

Also, a reddit user calculated based on a 20% raise he was already making 190ish thousand which puts him over 220k. Not sure how accurate that is.

I doubt that's accurate, that would make him the highest paid superintendent in the state.

Yeah, where is he getting 20% from?

Except revenues haven’t gone up. The schools that are A+ schools have always been good schools, prior to the Super becoming in charge. There have been some extremely nefarious things going on since he took his position. Fontana is a big part of it as well. Straight up dirty politics and a good ole boy network. The people of Vermillion Parish should not stand for it.
Prior to becoming superintendent he was the special ed teacher for Erath high school for many years. Then I believe he was promoted to plant management at the central office. Basically in charge of the janitors. Then was awarded the superintendent position. Never taught in the true classroom. He has no idea what these teachers go through on a daily basis. He likes to sit in his high castle and bask in the glory of their hard work to get the parish to where they are.

The 38k is probably over the life of the contract

I'd imagine there are more than 38 teachers in Vermillion Parish.
Say the superintendent divides what was going to be his 38knrsise, amongst the teachers.
Hooray! Everyone gets a $500 dollar a year raise.
That would be more of a slap in the face than the superintendent getting a 38k bump.

plus vehicle allowance..the 38k/yr will also be factored into his retirement, which is based on the highest paid 3 yrs of service.

4 years when you reach that level I believe

Superintendant member gets a $38,000 raise on top of the $100,00 hes making and wants a car to go along with it...The teachers hard work and dedication gets them nothing....I see something wrong with this picture..That $38,000 should be given to the teachers...This should have an intersting ending..Prayers for this situation..

Because of the way this cop acted, a massive microscope has circled in on the corrupt school board of Vermilion Parish. This is hilarious.

Louisiana school boards brashly fricking over the education system for personal gain on the shoulders of reciprocal cronyism?
Color me shocked.
The Superintendent took a 40K raise and a car. Lol. And the dude was already making 100K.
Public Education is a depressing black hole in this state. From elementary through university.

The outrage is a snowball effect of a number of festering issues. One is the increase in class sizes. Another is the school board getting substantial raises.
Another........is that half the teachers in the parish don't favor Jerome as a superintendent, because he has no actual classroom experience. The board was split in renewing his contract, and I think it was Fontana who voted to break the tie and renew.

Is that really the reason why?

Or if the school district is struggling so much that it can't afford raises that money could be put into the operation of the school. Most teachers spend their own personal money to buy supplies for their classes. Mr Superintendent should be able to afford to make some sacrifices in apparently rough times.
Shoot. 38k could employ a whole other teacher or teacher's aid and actually do something about those increasing class sizes.
