The Marshall is an elected official. So my guess is the mayor???? Certainly not the city police.
As I recall the marshal is elected to serve the court, not the city.
Thats part of the reason for the general frick ups that come along with the position, as they answer to basically nobody.
Recall Jeremy Mardis (6 year old boy) getting killed by two corrupt marshals as they went on a personal vendetta against Jeremys dad over a girl the dad was messing around with. The whole system needs reform.

I'm really thinking that a board member motioned for the Marshall. I have no proof but it is not impossible
Either that, or he was told (probably by the all powerful Fontana) that if someone got out of line in the meeting to have them removed. Given the recent past of these meetings he was probably instructed of that months ago. Maybe he read this as someone about to make things out of hand, so he acted. Which was the wrong decision in my opinion.

I'm going to assume, by what he was saying on the video, that his argument will be that he gave her a lawful order to leave

Would be similar to me letting a VP know that I didn't think he was worth 500k/yr and the stock options, because I do all the field work. I deserve more.
I would bitch too if given a forum to, and the situation was years and years of being asked to do more with less, with no monetary recognizance of acheievement, but some guy who is 3-4 layers removed from the hard work taking victory laps and taking a massive raise for it.
This isn’t a class angle of angry he got more than me. They got NOTHING.

Sounds like we need us a good old fashion teacher uprising. You know 300 hens clucking with some homemade signs.
Some civil disobedience.
I will bet there ain't shite getting taught today.

All I know is this constable and parish school board put fuel on a fire.
It is like they taught us in the Academy our job to try to put out the flames not put fuel on the fire.
The constable should have just made sure she walked out and this meeting would have been in the records books not much said about it.
DA would be stupid to do anything with this politically for his career.
Now you have this making some regional media outlets and now people will start looking at the school board a little different.

I am with you.
Did he have the power to tell her to leave the meeting?
If the answer is yes, then she is in the wrong because he told her multiple times and she didn't initially follow. Then we don't know what happened in the hall.
If the answer is no....then the Marshall may be fricked if she pushes the issue.

So which members are with Fontana and who is on the other side?
Need to know who to give shite to.
Need to know who to give shite to.

The standard is probable cause to believe a crime has been committed to arrest someone.
What crime did she commit? If she committed no crime, then a civil suit for violation of civil rights (in federal court- 1983 action) and wrongful arrest and false imprisonment (in state court) are coming.

You are very much correct.
If he doesn't even walk over there then the teacher says what's on her mind and this goes in the books as just another heated school board meeting, which has become the norm. It doesn't make news past VP.
Now more eyes will be on the situation and the real issues will be exposed, not just this raise. Have to be some nervous folks at the school board today.

Compensation for retiring teachers is just as bad as the others in public service. Not sure of the truth of this, but heard that many teachers put their youngest children as beneficiaries of the retirement. That once the teacher passes away the child will get the retirement check as long as they are alive.
Pretty sweet deal, I bet if this is true you will not see any teacher or civil servants upset about this.
Teach until early 50's live another 25-30 years. Pass away and kids pulls income out of the system for another 20-40 years.

I guess we would have to know what she was charged with, and what she did in the hall.
When she walked out she was not being arrested, just told to leave. The threatening with his hand cuffs when telling her to leave may end up being a bad look.

She eventually complies and leaves. He probably put his hand on her arm to escort her out and she yanked away (this is just my best guess of what happened in the time we didn't see). He takes her to the ground, since she "resisted.
Did yall miss the part of the video where someone on the council instructs him to cuff her?

Thats just the thing- from what I read she was charged with nothing- an even worse look.

How do you arrest somebody with no charges?

She was put in the cop car and taken to the station. They booked her on something.
