Some people are vegan/vegetarian for health reasons.

I eat meat, but you definitely feel a lot better eating vegetables. I’m not denying that.

I could never not eat meat though.

Vegan: I don’t eat meat because nothing should have to die in order for me to live.

Farmers: *kill every living thing in field in order for crops to grow*

I actually have asked a vegan this, and they say it's because other animals haven't evolved to the same level of thinking we have. Not a terrible argument.

the irony is that it was through eating meat that humans were able to evolve and develop the cognition to have that moral compass they love to speak about.

I would imagine the reasoning is we are able to make a conscience choice coupled with the fact that we have the biological blessing of being omnivorous. I'm not vegan, so I don't know, but it's not that hard to think of the potential reasons.

My son tried dropping meat and dairy probably 2 years ago after watching What the Health. He just wanted to see for himself if he felt better and to see how long he could go. He's had a bit of deer meat and will eat seafood from time to time but for the most part has stayed away from meat and diary. He says he just feels better, wakes up ready to go without coffee and stays energized all day when everybody else is crashing mid morning. So anyway it's worked for him and he isn't douchey about it.
