I will be honest. I’m Catholic and have attended mass daily for almost 55 years. I love the Catholic faith and everything about it, however I can not stand the Latin songs and chants. I still to this day can’t understand them and would much rather those parts be said in English.

He was committed to something, I'm not sure it was the Catholic faith.

These threads are always so flattering. So many non Catholics think about and have opinions on Catholicism. I don't think of other religions ever. Pretty cool.

I'll put my spin on what a couple of people have already said.

Broadly speaking, the Latin Mass is a traditional form of Catholic worship that some traditional-minded Catholics seem to get a lot out of. Francis, who wasn't exactly a fan of all things traditional, claimed that allowing the traditional-minded folks to celebrate it was causing division, and he claimed that the bishops agreed with him, so he started restricting it.

It turns out that even the most charitable reading of Francis leads to the conclusion that he misrepresented the bishops' perspective to justify restricting the traditional Latin Mass.

They’re teaching a 2,000 year old story on a 5 billion year old planet in a 2 trillion galaxy universe. Does it really matter?
