So are they absolute? Like no matter what, they're not getting pregnant? Or should you still practice safe sex, etc?

No, they're not absolute, but it's very unlikely that you'll get a woman pregnant. Find a doctor that knows what they're doing and does them frequently.

If you do it, don't for one second think you can do ANY sort of physical exertion for several days thereafter. Give your nuts the time they deserve to calm down. You might as well milk the recovery process as long as possible anyway.

I did mine at the end of last year during bowl season. Our deductible had been met and I could watch football almost everyday. When I wasn't watching football I was playing a video game that I got for Christmas the year before since I have three kids and can't play video games anymore.

Plus you get to wake up and your wife doesn't think twice about you putting a shot of whiskey in your coffee while popping a pain pill. If she does say anything you can just point to the ziploc bag of sonic ice that you have pressed against your groin in your underwear.

The recovery process is actually pretty great.

My wife has worked with the doc who performs these procedures. She told me once that this guy was so nervous he nearly passed out sweating perfusely and kept saying "I'm such a pussy, I'm such a pussy"

She and the doc couldn't stop laughing.

There is. But to answer your initial questions,

"Is secks any different?"

Yes and no. Secks is still rare, but your wife no longer has an excuse to tell you to pull out.

"Any complications?"

Not for me. But again, two or three days after, don't try to use a push mower, play golf, exercise, or do basically anything other than lay in bed and milk that damn recovery time. Your balls will thank you. Complications arise generally because of user error.

Oh, just an FYI, you will have to shave your nutsack the night before. You could do it, your wife could it, or the nurse could do it. Depending on your situation, you have the ability to choose between at least two of those three.

I'm with LSUgrad04. Had it during bowl season, already hit my out of pocket for the year, so it was a free excuse to sit and watch football all day.

Follow the directions post procedure and you will be fine

Only person I ever knew who had complications didn't hug the frozen peas after.

Swelled up like softballs. He was miserable for weeks

I played golf with a buddy of mine two days after his vasectomy. This was a year or so prior to mine and is obviously anecdotal. So perhaps he was doing other strenuous activities of which I was unaware.

Nevertheless, we did not walk the course,we rode in a cart. All I know is that he complained to me at a later date that after the round, his nuts got discolored (black as he put it) and swelled up way too much for comfort.

I'd imagine that it has to do with constant standing up and sitting down as well as the unnatural body motion that a golf swing actually is. But I'm not a doctor. Again, it's anecdotal from my friend.

He also had a really shitty round and was constantly complaining about the pain during his swing.
