As per usual, beautifully executed! You always turn out excellent work.

Thanks.

When might we expect a P-38 out of you?

I built this one several years ago.

That’s the old Monogram kit from the 1970s. Tamiya and others have put out newer kits that I may add to my stash soon.

I think I knew this. While the P-51 is the superior aircraft, those P-40s will always be one of my favorites from that era.

One of the very first models I ever built was a Monogram P-40 kit my momma bought me at Kmart back in the 70s. I’ve built a few more since.

I built this one probably 20+ years ago..

And this one roughly about that same time…

And this one probably 10-15 years ago…

Clearly, I know NOTHING about aircraft, but I loved that tv show and remember the "bend" in their wings. I always thought that was cool for some reason.

What was the purpose (in real life) for that bend?

Having gull wings solved two problems.

1. It raised the nose of the aircraft up which allowed for a larger propeller. This allowed the full power of the massive Double Wasp engine to be utilized.

2. It allowed for shorter, more sturdy landing gear which was needed for carrier landings.

So basically it came down to the fact the pane needed a huge propeller but with short landing gear. Thus, the Corsair got gull wings.

Have you ever done a FW-190?
That's my favorite war bird.

Yeah...um...that is exactly what I was thinking.

Thanks for confirming.

Did this Tamiya 1/48 scale FW-190 about a year or so ago.

My grandfather flew 56 missions in WWII in a P51-D. Was stationed in Lesina Italy. 325th fighter group 319th Squadron. Checkertail Clan.

Those P51s are beautiful, but the Corsair is the eye candy for me.

P38 was better than both.

This Checkertail Clan?

If so, they make a model kit of his unit.

The top scoring American ace of WWII flew the P-38.

I did the same P 40 back in the early 80s that you show in the middle photo. It will always be my favorite I did followed closely by the Huey helicopter. Seeing your stuff always brings me back to when I had patience and focus to do this. Which I would haven’t given it up. I used to mix baby powder with the pain to make exhaust marks from the engine.

Wonderful work.

I’d love to meet the sad soul that downvoted this. Probably the same incel that downvotes posts of women.

Dora 9 was arguably the best fighter of the war.
