Vaccine Spinoff: Dr. Mary's Monkey (book)

I read both and enjoyed both books. I knew Dr. Ochsner so found the book really intriguing. Have heard many people say it was a fictional account of the times in New Orleans surrounding the Kennedy assassination.

I am curious how much both of the books sensationalize the truth. They both seem very believable to me.

Was a good read until the Judy Vary Baker bull$hit. The woman is a fraud.

On a side note, my wife and I visited Davie Ferrie's gravesite last weekend.

The book started off interesting then connected too many random events to be taken serious. It reminded of Wayne world when garth is explaining the process to transmit the video to the back of Mr. Big's Limo. "Then..."

Plus all the advertisements on the back cover for the publisher's other books were complete crackpot shite so its guilty by association.

Haslam's book is interesting, but he tries to tie a variety of events together with some very thin string. Much of the book just kind of defies logic. He tells a story of when he was at Jesuit High in the mid-60s and one of his classmates, Nicky Chipetta(sp?), who was the son of the Orleans Parish Coroner (I think), announces in class that his father showed him "secret evidence" that the Kennedy assassination was a conspiracy. Really? That's got to be bullshite, right?

I wish I had counted how many times he wrote "cancer causing monkey virus" and "linear partical accelerator". If there was a "Hi, Bob" type drinking game using those phrases, the reader would die of alcohol poisoning. But, it is an interesting book, especially if you're from the New Orleans area or into the Kennedy Assassination.

Me and Lee is just ridiculous. I feel like Judith Vary Baker is severely mentally ill. I have no doubt she believes every word she wrote, but the whole premise of the book is beyond belief. Alton Ochsner is portrayed as some ultra right right evil genius, who recruits Judy Vary Baker, an 18 year old "cancer researcher" from FL to move to NO to participate in a secret plot to kill Castro with the promise of getting her into Tulane Med School, although she's already flunked out of some Midwestern nun school.
Yeah, that sounds like the best candidate for your plot to overthrow a gov't...

When Vary-Baker, being of high moral fiber, confronts Ochsner about his plan, he "blackballs" her from all med schools. It's moronic. If the Ochsner family hasn't sued her for libel yet, it's only because they didn't want to give her fictional account more publicity (and she doesn't have two nickels to rub together).
