This strike taught me a lot about preparing for hard times. It worked out and I'm glad it's over

This is your argument? We "damn near" had no job. How so?

So your Daddy got you a job? Makes sense.

And the union's first proposal was 6/6/6. I'm pretty sure everyone expected they would meet in the middle.

I can't wait to read/have read already on how the Union got them pay raises and how they helped them out.

As I understand it, they wanted overtime, got overtime, and then turned around and bitched about having to work too many hrs. Typical union bullshite. I hope they hamstring the frick out of these guys on hrs and tightly restrict them to no more than 2080 hrs per year and let the non union operators have all the OT.

And up until this contract they always had the retrogression clause, which from what I was told was a huge sticking point, and one that I actually agreed with.

The retrogression clause wasn't the issue. The USW wanted a hand in the industries hiring process of maintenance crafts(more dues of course). Shell then said well if you don't want to take the issue with the maintenance crafts off the table we will play hard ball. The union used that to play the no retrogression clause propaganda. It has always been in there and always will be if the union plays fair.

Retrogression is basically everything that has previously been agreed upon in past contracts. They just carryover to the next contract.
