Do you want to?

Yes. Very much so.

so if I say those fricking Asians ruin the curve on every testYou're comparing saying Asians are smart to a blatant racial slur? You may wanna rethink that one. Also, what did you refer to the Asian and Indian teacher as?

Ok, good we are making headway into what is acceptable racism on campus. Need to keep it in-between stereotyping a whole race and using the actual derogatory term. Solid work today boys.

Why are you even worried about double standards for whites?
If you read what I quoted, I'm pretty clearly stating white people shouldn't worry about it.

so you don't distinguish or see any difference between stereotyping all Asians as smart and just referring to black people in general as the N word?

Is this real life?

Why would you think that?

I thought n***a and n***er were different?

One is a racial slur and the other is a term of endearment.

It's usually pretty obvious when it's being used as a racial slur and when it isn't.

That's true. Like I said earlier, if you say n***a in front of a black person, you have about a 50-60% chance of offending them. If you say n****r in front of a black person, you have about a 100% chance.

I thought what I am saying was pretty obvious but I guess not. Who is to judge the degrees of racism? To an Asian or Indian that could be pretty offensive. I knew an Asian guy back in the day that was sensitive to the subject because he wasn't overly smart. So if he overhead that who's to say his feeling of racism on campus doesn't warrant the suspension that this girl received for using the N word? So what are the various punishments for the different degrees of racism?

Watching you guys debate this is like watching a bunch of foreigners talk about some relatively obscure, but seemingly easily understandable, facet of American life.

My brain is saying, there's no way it's this difficult to understand. There's no way they don't get it.

But maybe they don't.

Fair point, but wherever we draw that line of distinction, what we saw in that pic in the OP knowing it was on campus crosses that line.

While I tend to agree with most of your post..

Using the terms African-American, Asian-American, Mexican-American and all the other -American groups is BS!!
remove the hyphenations and just be an American.

n****r, n***a or any form of the word is wrong no matter what color the skin is. It is a hateful word and shouldn't be used period.

n****r

n***a

I grew up with a single parent, a mother who worked in an elementary school cafeteria, you really nailed it.

So your white privilege was astonishing then right? My point is (and im starting to think you're intentionally missing it) some white people dont have it made from birth with rich parents, something you should obviously relate to. And some black kids grow up rich, is that black privilege?

quote:

some of us privileged white kids had to actually work hard, do without and bust their white asses to get to where they are.

congrats, plenty of white people do that.

Plenty of black people also seem to do that? Again totally missing my point. I wasn't giving you my life story just an example of how narrow minded a phrase like "white privilege" is.

quote:
Here's a little unfiltered truth for you - life has a way of helping people who help themselves and shitting all over those who refuse to and want things given to them rather than earned by them and it doesnt care a bit what color you are, what bad shite happened to you.
quote:

it also has a way of discriminating against people based on their race, wouldn't you agree?

No I wouldnt at all (which I clearly stated in my reply)? The journey of Life that each person endured to get to where they are or wish to be is not capable of being discriminatory. Its just the results of the efforts or lack of that each person puts into it. Either love your lot in life or quit bitching, moaning and blaming other people / perceived or real injustices and get to work doing something that will make your life better. Race is just one of many excuses that an individual can use to justify why they havent excelled but there are thousands more too!

it really blows my mind how they think, "frick that n*gga" and "ni***rs are why my wifi is out" are the same thing. Context means everything. It is a double standard. But the guys in here just can't DWI

I'm literally just using common sense. I don't get how they can't see the glaring differences. But the get-off-my-lawners typically have a tendency to be a pain in the arse when it comes to things like this.
