I'd like to upgrade my brother in law's crawfish rig...he has a natty gas line ran out by his pool/deck that he would prefer to use... he has a shitty burner, I was going to get him a burner and converter but wanted to consult the OT first... I understand the natural gas line isn't as preferred to fire up a jet burner to optimal conditions... Any advice on how to juice the rig ? Should I just tell him to use propane ? anybody done this ?

This is taking crawfish way too seriously.

Just use propane like everyone else.

You're going to be there for a while trying to boil water on a natural gas line.

They make a NG multi jet burner but not sure how good they work. I've seen them at Galvez hardware and Goodwood Hardware

They had a thread or two on OB. Basically with a gas jet burner it will taker twice as long to boil water (not too big of a deal), but it's convenient.

I know someone with one. Works great. I’ll ask him how it’s rigged up.

I have one - multi-jet burner as mentioned above. Works great, maybe a tad slower than propane, but I never worry about running out of fuel.

Looks like this Amazon.com, can be found locally (to Baton Rouge). Happy Boiling.

Rocket pot on a 12 inch Bayou classic burner with a sufficient natural gas supply will easily boil water.

Bottom of the pot will turn black but who cares.

Would likely work well with a larger than standard gas meter. Say the size needed to operate a 20,000 KV standby generator.

You need a natural gas burner. Mine is fed by a 3/4" hose and has 32 jets. It took 5 1/2 minutes longer to bring my water to a boil than my brother in laws single jet burner.

My buddy has a line run. There's little difference, timewise. He's got multiple jets on the burner.
