Poor in the US is still better than poor in any other country in the world. Don't go to jail, don't become a teen parent, and graduate high school in the US, and you are almost guaranteed to live better than 90% of the world.

Most of our "poor" when you add in all the benefits available to them (SNAP, Section 8, Medicaid, EITC, etc) make well over $34k a year, which puts them in the top 1% of the world population.

We don't have poor in this country, and haven't for some time now.

Worrying about income inequality is stupid. What matters is that those earning less have enough, and in America our poor are fat and have cable and smart phones. No one in America is relatively poor.

I am going to guess abortion plays a role in the chance at survival. Seems like every study that paints the US in a bad light for childhood mortality fails to explain that they include aborted babies in the figures
