I can't imagine the Ole Miss Chancellor not making a statement within 24 hours if something like this happened to an Ole Miss student. I expect there would be a candlelight vigil and some sort of remembrance service fairly quickly, also.

The only thing the city understands is money. If enough parents of prospective 2023 freshman get cold feet and it affects enrollment, then it’ll have a significant impact the university bottom line as well as on BR businesses that cater to students.

Millsaps had to build a giant fence to protect it from Jackson, LSU needs a giant wall

The coaching changes board is still convinced that Tate will meddle in all Woodward’s hires and Mel Tucker is a lock to replace O.

How about addressing the students' parents who are on edge?

Exactly. I am a parent of an LSU student. It would be great to see the president be aggressive and bold and at least TRY to accomplish something.

Wait you think the President of the University DID NOT call the family?

Students’ parents =\= student’s parents

I’m referring to the thousands of other parents.

Ok I got it. And I get the concern having a child there but the murder happened off campus.

Not sure why people keep bringing this up. It’s a distinction without a difference. The border of campus is not some magical line. Majority of students live off campus. They all leave campus, most multiple times per day.

LSU has a vested interest in a safe environment on and off campus.

That is stating the obvious. Give everyone the solution. What could the university do to ensure a students safety at 2 AM off campus? And that is not meant that the victim did anything wrong. But there are many areas of this country that are no longer safe. We all know why. Tell us how you would fix this.

At the very least parents of students should warn them to stay away from the establishments on Government Street and remain closer to campus.

It’s not just a matter of fixing it. That’s a complicated and lengthy process.

It’s a matter of at least addressing the issue.

Baton Rouge is setting murder records. He should at least comment on that and offer to coordinate with the city to make students aware and to offer any resources to help.

Let parents know you are at least aware and communicating with local authorities.

He hasn’t even acknowledged the murder yet, so I’m not hopeful of anything more.

Some of these kids have no idea how dangerous BR is off campus.

Tate and/or LSU should have warned the students...but that would be considered racist.

You think a black woke college president is going to criticize a black female mayor and a black male police chief?
He won’t say shite beyond the same feckless mumblings of platitudes about how the violence must stop, we must have unity, blah blah blah.

Unless he intends to call out the two aforementioned cocksuckers, he should just keep his own cock holster shut.

The wife and I went to LSU and were born and raised in Louisiana. Since moving to Texas, I’m only going to recommend schools here for our kids to go to.

Thinking he will and thinking he should are not the same thing.

I don’t think he will. I do think he should.

We live in Dutchtown- her high school where she graduated in 2019 even released a statement offering grief counselors on campus. The university president of the school she CURRENTLY attends should have addressed it in some way!
