Are there alligators in that preserve he’s in? I’m sure there are since it’s Florida - what are the chances he gets eaten by one?

Absolutely. Whether anyone was in the van or not is meaningless… and it’s all speculation at this point to the location.
But if she was found nearby, then it’s possible that dashcam video gave them a starting point for the search.

Not completely true, you can 100% see the open door closing. Go to the YouTube video, it's much clearer than the gif posted in here.

Around 1:30 in the video - it appears the van door is open and is shut but there is a water droplet or something in the way - so I can’t be sure

The highs have been in the 70's and 80s the last two weeks in Grand Teton Park. Plenty warm enough for decomposition and animal predation.

Never said such a thing. The poster responded to a post about not being able to see the door close saying people are seeing what they want.
I don't see a guy digging but I can definitely see the black gap in the door change to a white door.
ETA it was actually a twitter poster that zoomed in and cut the video where it was really clear. Looking for the tweet to relink, it's somewhere in the last 20 pages or so.

Making it worse is I read she was blogging about, planning, or reviewing area at thedyrt.com (at least according parents in one article i read). Maybe not the exact location in YouTube video but around spread creek campgrounds (still large area without additional reports or that YouTube video but would have been last known area with true verified contact with her).
Edit: Also wonder if getting phone info for access to this app.
