Somebody earlier said criminals are usually captured quickly because they are not too smart.
Glen Chambers was a Mensa member. He was supposedly last seen in Orange Beach, working construction. He escaped around 1990 and is still out.

Tennessee sheriff said they held the elderly couple captive for 3 hours, tied them up, held guns to their heads. Told the couple who they were and they they expected to be dead inside of 24 hours and had nothing to lose. Old man got loose and they put him in a head lock before tying him up again. Took him 25 minutes to get free and call the cops when they finally left. They'd wanted the lady to drive them to their next place but car wouldn't start so they stole the other one thems lives and took off

Fired two shots out the back window and hit police cars, but no officers injured. They then crashed the car and fled on foot to a nearby backroad. A resident saw them trying to steal another car and then a neighbor joined him. The citizens held them at gunpoint till the cops arrived.
