Gotcha. I was under the impression a warrant is isssed when someone is wanted in connection of a crime and hasn’t been arrested yet.

as well as other paperwork supplied by NOPD..
FYI, this means a gist and a warrant. She (or anyone else, including his atty) won't see the report until the DA indicts. At that point, his attorney will have access through discovery. Public won't.

would you consider this normal? Would you think the original warrant would make no mention whatsoever of witnesses telling police that ward was beating on a female?
Yes very typical especially for Orleans Parish.
Don't know why they feel the need to mention this in the original warrant because all you need is the basic minimal information needed to meet all the elements to charge.
The extra curricular info will be presented at trial. I would be willing to be that the woman left the scene and only reappeared after she found out through the media stories.

You're drafting the application to establish probable cause for the instant arrest. If you aren't intending to arrest for battery of a female, it's not relevant to the warrant app. If you don't have the female or can't identify her, there's no way to arrest him for that.

Wouldn't the fact your same eye witnesses saying the attack started because ward was beating a female help in your assertation of probable cause, as that would show Ward was the aggressor and not in any form of self defense?

Also, tlsu, this has come out as well
So police have given documentation that Jackson was attacked for no apparant reason, after walking down the street casually
In your opinion, I can't imagine they would release that info, and then later contradict themselves and say he confronted Ward for beating a female
Is that logic sound?
quote:
In documents that cite several eyewitnesses, New Orleans police allege that a visibly drunk and agitated Ward punched and kicked Jackson after 1 a.m. on Jan. 6 in the 2000 block of St. Charles Avenue for "no apparent reason."
quote:
The first responders found Jackson with a disfigured jaw and blood coming from his mouth as he moaned for help, according to court records. Those records said Jackson, by all indications, had been "casually walking down the street" when he was accosted.

I can't imagine the prosecution would like to have witnesses saying they saw completely different things
They don't need ward to have beat a woman for their case, so the fact the released documents today saying ward attacked for "no reason" and Jackson was "just walking down the street when he was attacked", I would imagine they want the family to stay quiet bringing up other stories

Why can’t you grasp the concept that motives and reasons don’t belong on an arrest warrant, only the act belongs?
It’s not a hard concept.

Please explain why the police would document this:

Yall are ignoring the fact they didnt just leave it off the warrant, they have also released documentation contradicting the woman beating story

I guess that blows up your theory about Red having a gun.

What documentation? A preliminary report? Final report?

I never had a theory red had a gun
I said the only way Ward could actually get off, is if he convinces the jury Red told him he had a gun and was going to shoot him.
Seriously, do you even try and read my posts?

Young preppy white man beats old not-so-preppy black man to death.
Young preppy white man charged with 2nd degree murder, turns himself in and bonds out (95% sure about the "bonds out" part)
75+ pages of various "devil's advocates" wondering if the old not-so preppy (and dead) black man was as innocent as portrayed. Maybe he attacked first? Maybe he had a gun or said he did? Maybe he knew Kung-Fu and that young preppy white man had to fight for his life and got in one lucky shot that triggered an to this point unknown and undiagnosed heart condition or brain aneurysm. We're just asking questions here!

The fact they released info saying what they did, they arent later going to come out with information conflicting their own reports later.

Of course they would.
What do you think an investigation is? Are you sure they haven’t uncovered more info they aren’t releasing?
