So glad for the progress and you are in our prayers! As an early donor just wanted to ask why the original $10k was changed to $25k? I’m not saying anything bad but if it was changed due to return to home expenses or something like that I think it’s good to point out so folks know where things are going and that can also help you communicate positive progress. Many folks don’t realize that expenses don’t end at the hospital. Great news so far but I know you and your family still have a long (ultimately positive) road ahead.

Thank you for the prayers and donation. The main reason the goal was changed is because now we know her kidneys will have to be replaced and she can't recieve a transplant until she weighs at least 22lbs. You are correct, those bills come from everywhere. Thanks again for everything. Keep the faith.

This exact same thing happened to my daughter in NICU 19 years ago. She was born at 26 weeks and was 1lb 10oz at birth. She was in NICU for 4 months before we were able to take her home and her lung collapsed in the 4th month in NICU. They never thought she would live much less be "normal" even after they got it back inflated. We even had a priest come in and read her last rights because we didn't think she was going to live. She was even the Louisiana March of Dimes baby in 2004 because of her success story.

I am happy to say she is now 19 years old, Freshman at Southeastern La, on a full scholarship, and made the Dean's list first semester. She is a perfectly normal teenager.

Keep the hopes up because there are miracles out there and my daughter is living proof of one..

Awesome story sir! God Bless

I'm not a practicing Catholic but certainly have my beliefs. I'll share a quick story about my oldest son. He was born via emergency c section, almost full term. After he was born, he was having breathing difficulty and his heart rate was 320bpm (if I remember correctly). Dumb arse NICU nurse tells us "that's the highest I've ever seen", so that helped our nerves. He had open heart surgery in Birmingham at 2 yrs age. Everything went well and after a few follow up visits to cardiologist he was released for good. He's 27 now and having a great life.

We went to church one Sunday with my mom when he was about 3-4 yrs old. Afterwards, my mom was walking with him back to the car and stopped at a statue of Mary. Mom asked him if he knew who that was. He replied "of course, that's the lady that was holding me".

That is so inspiring. No, she is not a normal teenager. She is an exceptional teenager. Most kids don't get full scholarships and make the Dean's list! Please tell her thank you for being an inspiration to all. You must be so proud.

Ya'll are getting to me. I shed a few tears reading this. Mick, you and the other people of Tiger Droppings are a true inspiration and should be proud of yourselves. Thank you for that!
