Do you have a T-top?

Wonder why we dont have gps tracking on the life vests. Or a spot like device. I have one that I carry with me when I go on adventures but I think its only submersible for 1 hour before it stops working. Maybe they have gotten better.

No. Tried doing it on top of the console but they are way too much in the way right there.

That’s what an EPIRB is

Bout $450 ea for a normal marine bouant PLB. Not an expense these companies see as necessary and certainly not required by any safety authority.
I keep one on one life vest and float strobes on the others. Odds are everyone adrift is going to end up roughly in the same area.
The marine industry doesn't have chemical plant money to support "safety at any cost" PPE and processes, and these types of events are extremely rare considering the offshore traffic in the gulf.

Has anyone else been reported missing after these days of storms?

Trying to be realistic here

So we have a sticky for a shooting in the midwest, but not for an ongoing rescue operation for multiple people in our backyard??

If they found someone it was probably in the SouthPelto blocks(offshore) North of the South Timbalier blocks.
I don’t think they mean Lake Pelto inland.
We used to catch some big lemon fish there at South Pelto 49. Chevron three-pile and four pile structures.

I've been following this thread for a while and figured I would chime in on something.
There was a fatality at EI 331 where a guy fell through some grating, and he was never recovered from the GOM.
After that incident, an alert did go out to people world wide to evaluate technologies that can aid in the detection and location of people in distress....eg - those in life vests being located through EPIRB, etc.....
The question I have is do we think the POB had their life vests on when the liftboat flipped? It needs to go beyond life vests and PFDs.....to me there needs to be some type of technology on the work clothes. Simply for location and closure if they go overboard / underwater with no life jacket.

Not likely.

Could this be related to the earlier spotted survival pod seen floating near ST37? Please let us know if this is truthful information that an additional person has been found. Families are desperate for information.

I was scratching my head too about this.
It was stickied for a little while on Tuesday.
It is the same on the major networks.
Watching the replay of the CBS news, I could see the disgust in Nora O’Donnell’s face that this story wasn’t earlier in the newscast last night. You would think it would be lead story in the country, but instead the nations media is transfixed on white cops that kill African Americans.
NBC didn’t even cover it last night.

This doesn't fit the narrative.

I thought the USCG said all 12 remaining were in the boat.
No- the family member/fiance said that's what they were told in the meeting. That was likely the case initially.
But the coast guard said one of the 5 seen on the hull fell in the water and had not been seen/in contact since. (With 2 rescued after jumping into water, and 2 re-entering the boat.) Apparently this was after the life jacket/radio drop.

Yea all good points. Guess I would have to strap my water resistant spot to my forehead.

They should probably wear an EPIRB even when they aren’t wearing a life vest.
