Isn’t that the gussets under the turntable ring on the gear tower?

Maybe delay work authority. Just until you are gone.

True but how long will a person have to wait before the opportunity comes up to go to another site? Some companies will "punish" an employee by sitting them at home for an extended period of time if they speak up.

That is the leg tower that runs through the hull. It contains the gear motors that move the legs. It appears the crane is connected to another frame/tower attached to the gear motor tower.

Then that is not someone I would personally work for. I refused to work on a certain rig in the Barnett because it was unsafe. Pissed off some people but I only sat home a week before I was ona different site. 2 people got hurt out there a few weeks later

Its only money. I'll make it somewhere else if people gonna be retarded with heavy machinery

Yep. It isn't forgotten. The person who gets it done is noticed more than the one who gets it done safely.

Right. I was referring to the walkway attached wrapped around the spud well/leg well.

Or did the Captain lower it for ballast? Do they do that?

Spoke to my father who’s been in the industry his whole life. He said if the water is deep enough they’ll lower them as much as possible to lower center of gravity. Said they’ll act like a cork in that case. Makes sense they may have tried 20-30 feet or so if the water depth was 55ft as previously stated in this thread.

Felderhoff. Not scared to mention em. Got stuck, rotating with the slips in, nobody in doghouse or on the floor.

The next night a forklift was doing donuts in the parking lot with nobody in it. Took out the mudloggers brand new used truck. Lol. I called my coordinator and asked to be reassigned.

I'm glad you made the right decision.

Unfortunately, not everyone can just up & drag a job or risk getting run off. Everyone's situation is different. Trust me, I've had this same conversation with fellow co workers & you quickly find out everyone's situation is not the same.

Something else that goes through your mind is even though something seems off, the chances of something happening to you are slim. So are you going to risk a job with that in the back of your head? Alot of guys wouldn't.

All Cardinal employees are being brought in off their jobs in the GOM. Two found and two still missing. I don’t know about the other companies. Hoping for a miracle!
