Everyone is shitting on people overreacting, but a lot of people are not familiar enough to be able to tell if someone is in official tactical gear.
It says more about how "on the edge" people are. The only bad thing about this is that the media reports this shite and if it happens enough, if someone does actually see something that might be a threat, it might get to the point where they are like "its probably someone in law enforcement. I don't want to call in and look stupid".

yep. i got a panicked call from my daughter who was already in her car so i just told her to get away from campus and let them sort it out.
what would be humorous is if the cop in question ended up joining the search to locate the guy until they realized it was him.

STFU. from shitty tv series alone, most people can tell a police officer in tactical gear from a "some guy with a gun". Cause the cop has huge letters reading POLICE, SWAT, SRT, CRT, SHERRIFF, FBI, etc on his gear.
maybe this guy wasn't in uniform- like the dude at LSU. But the chicken little, panic shite has to stop.
