only defense would be if it were your "comfort" dog, but if a cop K-9 you'd have screwed the pooch, so to speak

Obviously there would be a verbal altercation preceding the dog carrier being actually placed in the overhead bin. How would you kill a flight attendant when the sky marshal is likely already close by? If not a sky marshal, other crew members and irritated passengers would probably already be involved.
I think it's moot to discuss going to jail for that- none of us in this thread that are horrified dog owners would have complied and taken the flight. It never would have gotten that far.
