Im thinking about joining the ufc gym and just wanted to get other people's opinion on it. Maybe share some good/bad experiences. Also, which location should I go to Sherwood or South Acadian?

Do you have tapout shirts and bedazzled jeans?

If you answered no, need not apply.

Unless you have a specific desire to pursue MMA, there is absolutely no reason to join one of those over-priced gyms.

Great place to train. You don't have to have any mma ambitions to go there.

South Acadian

I've been training BJJ for over 10 years and when I am in BR for work, I will drop in this one and roll. It's legit.

One of the best decisions I've ever made was joining this gym in the fall. No, you don't have to want to learn how to fight to join. That's absurd. They have heavy bag classes & other fitness classes, which are the main draw to it. The bag classes (boxing & kickboxing) are incredible, and you will lose a lot of weight fast & really add definition to your muscles if you go 3-4 times per week. IMO, they are the best thing going as far as group fitness classes. If you join, you have access to both gyms in BR. I'm a little partial to Sherwood bc it's closer to my home & a little bigger, but Acadian is awesome, too.

And no, there are no jersey shore type dbags lurking there. No meatheads, either. The coaches are all awesome, and the vibe is great. I started off just doing bag classes for about 6 months, then took private boxing lessons, then started going to the advanced striking/sparring classes. It's turned into my new hobby.

I encourage you to give it a try. Everyone I've put into it loves it.

I'm a member over there and it's a great place to train. I mainly go for the boxing and kickboxing classes, but they also have a full gym as well. Great trainers and is the best gym I've eve worked out at. Highly recommend it.

I went to the kickboxing classes when I was at LSU in 2014. I was worried about the dbag culture too going in, but it wasn't bad. The classes are great cardio and I still use some of the exercises I learned. Some of the sororities did group classes there too.

Yeah, my 7yr old son started taking the youth BJJ classes this summer & loves it. So he'll do that while I'm taking a bag class, which is great. I'll probably start BJJ at some point, but I'm pretty heavily into boxing right now, so I'll stick with that for a while.

I pay $80/mo for unlimited classes & full access to the gym. Don't know about the other packages.

i want to learn so that my daughter can learn when she gets older

You can get a good workout from the cardio kickboxing. Their MMA team is one of the best in LA and many of them instruct in kickboxing fundamentals and jiu jitsu

What are you trying to achieve?

I went there for 4 years until I moved and it was no longer convenient. Got in great shape. I was running 21 minute 5ks without training and the leanest I've ever been. Never touched the mma side of the house. However their head coach is a legit mma fighter, the owner is a legit competitor in grappling. They love the sport and it was a good place to be. Got to meet Shawn Jordan, Rocco Rodriguez and a couple of other UFC guys whose names I've forgotten. I went to both locations as it's the same owner.

I do crossfit now days. Was a better value than crossfit at about $80 monthly.

I've been thinking of joining as well. I did martial arts when i was younger, enjoyed it a lot. Ended up getting my black belt in karate.

Thanks everyone for all the info.

I'm the same. Was in martial arts. Judo, tang soo do, hapkido. It was like getting in shape plus nostalgia at UFC gym. Plus I met folks that were somewhat famous to me.
